Day 1 Munich to St. Gallen

We arrived in Munich 30 minutes early due to strong tail winds.  We picked up our car and loaded up the luggage.  Traveling light as usual.

As we drove into Switzerland we saw our first glimpse of the Alps.

We arrived in St. Gallen, Switzerland and walked to the medieval Old Town and stopped at the St. Laurence Church.

We then walked on to see the impressive Abbey and St. Gallen Cathedral.  The grounds of the Abbey and Cathedral demonstrate Renaissance and Baroque architecture with examples of oriel window, half-timbering and frescoes.

We had dinner at a typical Swiss eatery, Marketplatz.  We enjoyed a delicious meal and friendly conversation with a local couple and their dog, Sky.

    1. What is your favorite architecture? You know if it ain't "baroque", don't fix it.

  3. Glad to read the trip is going as planned. The mountains are impressive; I'm having second thoughts on having quit skiing.
