Day 3 Lucerne to Colmar, France

We left Lucerne in search of somewhere to have breakfast.  We got off the highway and meandered through some typical Swiss villages.

As we were going through the town of Sarnen, we stopped at Aiola and had a great breakfast.  As we walked outside to leave, we were amazed at the view.

Our next stop was Interlaken.  We started climbing up into the mountains and as we rounded a corkscrew turn in the road, we came upon the most stunning view.  This was quintessential Switzerland.

We continued on our way to Interlaken along the Brienzersee with beautiful views of the lake and the snow-capped mountains.

At Interlaken, we crossed over to continue our drive along the north side of the Thunersee.  We stopped in Oberhofen to see the castle (which was closed for the season) and the views of the lake and mountains.

As we crossed the border into France, we made a short detour to the town of Saint Louis.  This is the town Tom's grandparents had come through when they immigrated  from Croatia to America.

We ended our day in Colmar, France.  We did not get to see much of the town today as it started raining.  We made our way through a cold rain to the Old Town and found The Schwendi Bier u Winstub that had been recommended to Tom by a friend.  We had a delicious dinner.
